There is a popular notion that the older you get the closer death is at hand. It seems logical on the surface and likely statistics would back that up in terms of percentages of deaths per age group. But it brings to mind some interesting questions.
How far away from death am I? Is there a distance from death that can be measured?
What struck immediately was that at the moment life is born so also is death born. Like a shadow that is the companion of that life. Inseparable and unavoidable. Time and age are irrelevant.
We come to praise one and despise and fear the other. Which is which often depends upon one’s world view. Neither are in and of themselves good or bad. It is just the way things are.
