Buddhist Dogs Answer Koans
Was visiting my sister yesterday and every time she goes out her 2 dogs like to try to take advantage of me. They sit beside the refrigerator and look longingly at the dog treats on top of it. So I give them a choice of biscuit, chewy type or these simulated bacon strips. They always want the bacon strips.
When my sister got back home she said to me “You can’t take your orders from a dog!” Later I look at the dog who is generally the instigator of this behavior and I ask her “Do dogs have a Buddha nature?”
She goes “Woof”
It was worth a shot.
Then she goes back to gazing at the yellow bag on top of the refrigerator.

are you working mu? there may be ‘dog’ in reality, but there cannot be a dog. the answer remains crystal clear: no. thx for not slapping me too hard.
if you have answered yes, or you have answered no, you have lost your own buddha-nature.
Yes or no is not important. Dog is not important. Buddha nature is not important. Buddha nature cannot be lost or found. Buddha nature cannot be owned. There is no one to own it. Just another perspective.
Knowing the 2 dogs and how they can manipulate people, especially you, I found this very funny. By the way, the dogs are out of treats in the yellow bag but have compensated for it by jumping on the couch with muddy feet.
